A CREATIVE POWERHOUSE - A CONVERSATION WITH JENNIFER K. AUSTIN
Hailing from New Zealand, Jennifer K. Austin is a multi-talented creative powerhouse. A singer, actress and coach, she debuted her musical project last year, with a 10-track album called ‘Journey’ containing the lead single ‘Old Gin’. A country-infused gem, the track fully showcases Austin’s powerful and precise vocal skills, highlighted even further in the rest of the album, moving to pop and indie territories. The cornerstone for a brilliant career. Intrigued by her personal history and her music, we asked her a few questions to find out more about Jennifer’s creative universe. Here’s what we found out.

'Journey' is the new album by New Zealand based artist Jennifer K. Austin. Aptly named, it takes the listener through an emotional ride at times where there is a likeable vulnerability and connection with some of life's difficulties such as in songs like 'Misery' and 'Scared of Letting Go'. Austin has the ability to unleash that emotional power in her voice but also take moments to soften her voice (almost to a whisper) to suit. The contrast is beautiful. A couple of favourites are 'Authenticity' and 'I am here' which capture her style well.
Other songs bring out a country pop flair which excites. The single 'Old Gin' reminded me a little of Sheryl Crow's 'All I wanna do', with it's catchy hook and feel good flavour (whisky or gin will do fine here). It's one to definitely get you out of your seat or at the very least tapping the toes.
Check out 'Journey' on your favourite streaming platforms. The road through is well worth it!
So I got a request to review “Journey” by @jenniferkaustin and it, overall is really good! The lyrics are very relatable and enjoyable. Not to mention one of the best tracks that is out now, Old Gin, is in my opinion the best. And she has a very nice voice. Overall, I’d say the album is very solid. 10/10. You all better check this out when it releases on Friday!! Thinkin’ of Morgan Wallen up next to a more in depth of Sellout by @koe_wetzel. What do y’all think? And if you have any requests let me know! Also, this needs a better, more experienced review from @gradywsmith he would love this!
